Dear Saints and Friends of Grace & Trinity,
*SUNDAY – TRINITY 8 ~ “The Sunday of the Good and Bad Trees”*
Jeremiah 23:16-29; Romans 8:12-17; Matthew 7:15-23
*Beware of False Prophets*
*“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matt. 7:15). Deceit has its strength in masquerading as the truth. False prophets speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of the Lord (Jer. 23:16–29). They deny the judgment of the Lord, speaking peace to the unrepentant, when in truth there is condemnation and wrath. “You will recognize them by their fruits” (Matt. 7:20). The “fruits” of a true prophet are not outward righteousness or success but faithfulness in proclaiming the Word of the Lord. This is the will of the Father in heaven, that pastors take heed to the flock, the Father’s adopted ones (Rom. 8:12–17), warning them against the wolves and their lies, and shepherding the Church of God which He purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:27–38). For indeed, the cross is that good tree bearing good fruit—namely, the body and blood of Christ, given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Join us at 8am at Grace and 11am at Trinity! *
*Bible Study is at 9:30am at Trinity between the services. *We’ll continue our study of the Revelation of St. John. We’re still in chapter 1, so if you’ve not yet been able to join us, you’re not too late!
*For those not yet joining us in person*, here is the bulletin for Sunday to follow along with at home. Please remember to give your offering to the Lord for the service of the Church, either by mailing a check or donating through our PayPal account (Grace, Trinity ). I know this is a difficult financial time for many, so if you need assistance, please let us know! We are so thankful for the continued generosity shown to both congregations during this time. Also, here are the news/notes and the congregation at prayer for Sunday. If you’ve missed any of the services and don’t have FB, please see my YouTube channel.

· We need some help recording the Divine Service. Up til now, we’ve been using my cellphone. It’s not only a bit inconvenient, but I’m also in MI this weekend…So, if anyone is willing to use their phone to live-stream our Sunday service, that would be a huge help. If you’re interested, please let me know and I can make you an administrator on our Facebook page. Thanks!
· The August Newsletter is available! For Grace click here ; for Trinity click here. And here’s the August Calendar. Remember, check the Google calendar for the most up-to-date events.
· Trinity LWML will be assembling School Kits for Lutheran World Relief. We need the following items: 70-sheet spiral notebooks, rulers, 24-count crayons, blunt safety scissors, and pencil sharpeners. There will be a box in the Narthex in which to place your donations beginning August 2 until September 20. Thank you for supporting Trinity Lutheran Ladies Guild/LWML and Lutheran World Relief. Also, there is a large Mite box in the Narthex for the congregation to put Mites in. Vicki will be collecting them weekly. Seventy-five percent of the Mites stay in the KS District to fund 2020-2022 Mission Grants, twenty-five percent goes to fund the 2019-2021 National Mission Grants.
· Coming up on *August 23rd* the Churches are planning a Joint-Parish Sunday in celebration of my 10th anniversary of ordination and service here at Grace & Trinity. I’m not sure whether the location or schedule has yet been determined but mark your calendars. We’re honored to have Pr. Warren Graff come and preach (he’s the one that preached at my ordination, too).
· Finally, here’s a pic from last Sunday’s Spanish service. What a joy!
Many blessings and much joy to you all in Christ our life,
-Pastor
