Dear Saints and Friends of Grace & Trinity,

T the Sunday of the Cleansing of the Temple T
Jeremiah 8:4-12; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Luke 19:41-48 <www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+8%3A4-12%3B+1+Corinthians+12%3A1-11%3B+Luke+19%3A41-48&version=ESV>
*Jesus Weeps for Jerusalem*
*Our Lord wept over Jerusalem for the destruction that would soon come upon her. For she did not recognize the time of God’s visitation in Christ, who had come to bring her peace (Luke 19:41–48). Through His prophets God had consistently called His people to turn from their deceit and false worship. “But My people do not know the judgments of the Lord” (Jer. 8:4–12). They sought to establish their own righteousness rather than receive Christ’s righteousness through faith (Rom. 9:30–10:4). So it was that God was in His temple to cleanse it, a precursor to the once-for-all cleansing from sin which He would accomplish in the temple of His own body on the cross. God grant us to know the things that make for our peace—His visitation in the Word and Sacraments—that by the Holy Spirit we may penitently confess “Jesus is Lord” (1 Cor. 12:1–11).*
Join us for the *Divine Service* at *Grace* at *8am* or *Trinity *at *11am* and for *Bible study* at *9:30am* *at Grace. *

· *August 22 *we’ll have a voters’ meeting at each congregation: Trinity at 12:15pm and Grace at 3:30pm. We will not vote on the issue at this meeting, but begin the discussion.
· *August 28* is our Joint-Parish Picnic. We’ll also have an official “visit” by our Circuit Visitor, Pr. Lovett. Please join us at 3pm at Grace and stick around for dinner, drinks, and games. To prepare for the visit, please feel free to fill out this survey <mcusercontent.com/a90ee03ff0810e6c55bae6a58/files/08def2a8-993a-0eb7-0614-a961bb40982f/Questionnaire_for_Laity_Circuit_Visit.docx>.
