Dear Saints and Friends of Grace & Trinity,
(First of all, please forgive the lateness of this update! I thought I had it scheduled to be sent early this morning, but apparently didn’t set it up quite right!)
*SUNDAY – TRINITY 4 – “The Sunday of the Good Measure”*
*Christ’s Mercy Is Ours to Show to Others*
*“Be merciful, even as your Father also is merciful” (Luke 6:36–42). The old Adam in us wants to condemn and seek vengeance. But the Lord says, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay” (Rom. 12:14–21). To condemn, to avenge yourself, is to put yourself in the place of God. It is to fail to trust that He is just. Ultimately, it is to disbelieve that Jesus suffered the full vengeance for all wrongs. Only Christ is merciful as the Father is merciful. He is the one who overcame all evil with the good of His cross, forgiving even His executioners. Jesus is our Joseph, who comforts us with words of pardon and reconciliation (Gen. 50:15–21). He is the One who does not condemn but gives life that runs over. Only through faith in Christ are we sons of the Father—being merciful, forgiving, doing good to our enemies. For in Christ we know that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (Rom. 8:8–13).* *Join us at 8am at Grace and 11am at Trinity to receive the Lord’s gifts, humble ourselves, and praise Him for who He is and what He has done for us. *
*Bible Study will be at 9:30am at *Trinity* in between. *With a bit of trepidation and excitement, we’ll be looking at the book of Revelation. Please join us!
*For those not yet joining us in person*, here is the bulletin for Sunday <mcusercontent.com/a90ee03ff0810e6c55bae6a58/files/475ff23a-3b40-4a7a-8ee7-157ba988eca5/2020_07_05_Trinity_4.pdf> to follow along with at home. *Prayer Requests…*
· For Gerry Bryant, who is recovering from having a pacemaker put in on Monday.
· We offer prayers of thanksgiving for Kathy Patron, who is now off meds for her fungal mass. While a portion of something still remains, her doctors are hopeful that it is debris or scar tissue and will continue to monitor it. Lung tissue does not regrow so Kathy will have a cavity or hole where the fungus used to be. She has been advised that she will be more susceptible to bleeding and other lung infections like the flu and covid. Please pray for her continued healing.
· Audrey Rolf will have back surgery early in July; keep her in your prayers for comfort, health, and a speedy recovery.
Many blessings and much joy to you all in Christ our life,
-Pastor
