31 July 2020 *Commemoration of Joseph of Arimathea*

Dear Saints and Friends of Grace & Trinity,

*SUNDAY – TRINITY 8 ~ “The Sunday of the Good and Bad Trees”*
Jeremiah 23:16-29; Romans 8:12-17; Matthew 7:15-23
*Beware of False Prophets*
*“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matt. 7:15). Deceit has its strength in masquerading as the truth. False prophets speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of the Lord (Jer. 23:16–29). They deny the judgment of the Lord, speaking peace to the unrepentant, when in truth there is condemnation and wrath. “You will recognize them by their fruits” (Matt. 7:20). The “fruits” of a true prophet are not outward righteousness or success but faithfulness in proclaiming the Word of the Lord. This is the will of the Father in heaven, that pastors take heed to the flock, the Father’s adopted ones (Rom. 8:12–17), warning them against the wolves and their lies, and shepherding the Church of God which He purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:27–38). For indeed, the cross is that good tree bearing good fruit—namely, the body and blood of Christ, given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Join us at 8am at Grace and 11am at Trinity! *

*Bible Study is at 9:30am at Trinity between the services. *We’ll continue our study of the Revelation of St. John. We’re still in chapter 1, so if you’ve not yet been able to join us, you’re not too late!

*For those not yet joining us in person*, here is the bulletin for Sunday  to follow along with at home. Please remember to give your offering to the Lord for the service of the Church, either by mailing a check or donating through our PayPal account (Grace, Trinity ). I know this is a difficult financial time for many, so if you need assistance, please let us know! We are so thankful for the continued generosity shown to both congregations during this time. Also, here are the news/notes  and the congregation at prayer for Sunday. If you’ve missed any of the services and don’t have FB, please see my YouTube channel.

If you’re interested, please let me know and I can make you an administrator on our Facebook page. Thanks!

Dear Saints and Friends of Grace & Trinity,

*SUNDAY – TRINITY 7 ~ “The Sunday of the Feeding of the 4,000”*
Genesis 2:7–17; Romans 6:19–23; Mark 8:1-9
Eating from the Tree of Life is what we are given to do each and every Lord’s Day. Every Sunday is another feeding of the 4,000. Every gathering of the Church finds another free gift of God unto life everlasting. That is what it means to be gathered in Jesus: to eat and drink of His Body and Blood, to be comforted through the forgiveness of our sins, to be strengthened for the journey. *So* *j**oin us again at 8am at Grace and 11am at Trinity to taste and see that the Lord is good! *

✟ 10 – 25 – 2020 ✟

On October 25th, 2020 Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wichita is hosting the annual joint-circuit Reformation Festival of circuits 10 and 11. All are invited to join the festivities! We first gather around our Lord’s gifts given to us in the Divine Service. Our guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Carl Fickenscher. A circuit-wide choir will lead the Church’s song. After the service we’ll gather for a banquet dinner. When most are ready for coffee, we’ll sit at the feet of Dr. Fickenscher for a Reformation Lecture. Banquet tickets are $15/plate, children 10 and under eat free. The offering from the service will support the Joint-Seminary Fund. We rejoice at the opportunity to gather Lutherans from around Kansas to celebrate our Lord’s faithfulness to us from generation to generation! Hope to see you October 25th!
